Townsend Capital part of $12.7M funding of Lumenergi

Hunt Valley energy investor Townsend Capital LLC has backed Lumenergi Inc., a maker of efficient lighting systems.
Townsend joined three other investors in a $12.7 million second round of venture capital for Newark, Calif. - based Lumenergi. Braemer Energy Ventures led the investment along with Townsend and repeat investors Low Carbon Accelerator Ltd. and Noventi Ventures.
Lumenergi builds systems that enable commercial building owners to centrally manage lighting. The financing will help the company expand its customer base. Its early focus has been on federal government customers in California, New Hampshire, Nevada and Texas.
Townsend has been an energy investor since 2007, before which it owned real estate. Dennis Townsend founded the company in 1975 and was joined in 1993 by his son, David townsend. The company sold its real estate portfolio in 2007.
